St Helen's House, Derby

Image: St Helens House, Georgian grade I listed building restoration, Derby.

The grade I listed building was in a very poor state of repair but was considered to be the best large Georgian townhouse outside of London. The house was built as a gentleman's townhouse by the local architect Joseph Pickford. It then spent 150 years as the home of Derby School before it's most recent use as an adult education centre. The building was closed by Derby City Council in 2003 because of the mounting costs of essential repairs. The building was purchased by Richard Blunt Limited in 2007.

St Helen's House has been converted into the office headquarters of Smith Cooper (a Midlands accountancy company).
